Jeffrey W. Milsom, MD
CO-DIRECTOR
Dr. Jeffrey Milsom was the first Chief of Colorectal Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He established it and led it to become one of the top colorectal programs in the country. An early adopter of minimally invasive GI therapies almost 30 years ago, he led the first prospective randomized trial in the country, comparing the benefits of laparoscopic vs. conventional “open” surgery for colorectal cancer. He has a long history of working with industry leaders to create new methods and devices, has dozens of patents in device development, and has commercialized many of his ideas. He is also leading the surgeon-based International Collaboration on Colorectal Cancer (IC3), a group formed from over 10 countries to improve outcomes in colon and rectal cancer. His continued success in creating new, safe, and practical procedures has inspired surgeons and trainees for decades, and he has been invited to perform minimally invasive surgery on patients in more than 35 countries during his career.

He has built strong collaborations with industry leaders, focusing on advanced imaging techniques as they pertain to minimally invasive procedures.
